What is the difference between NPC and NextBot? ›

Source NPCs use nodes to determine not only where to navigate, but also what to do when they reach a specific node. NextBots do not use these nodes to navigate; instead they use the navigation mesh to move around and, depending on what mark a specific area may have, perform different actions.

NextBots are a new system to create NPCs in the Source Engine, utilizing the more powerful navmesh system for navigation over the old node based system. This page lists all possible functions usable with NextBots. See NextBot NPC Creation for more information on how to create NextBot NPCs.

Sanic is the first nextbot to be brought to GMod. This means he's the reason nico's nextbots, EVADE, Ziko's Nextbots, Goofy Runners, and reskins of him that flood the GMOD workshop exist.

This is the Slowest Nextbot Known. This Nextbot is insanely slow and takes a long time to get to you.. But its perfect to put in situations like Terminus when your just running from him, Then you turn a corner and you instantly die because of Virus.

Nextbots have around 500,000 health and can be killed by via weapons or vehicles with enough time, although this is virtually impossible in public servers.

There are currently 138 Nextbots in the game.

Unlike traditional NPCs, Nextbots rely on a navigation mesh (commonly referred to as navmesh), which facilitates their movement and decision-making processes. These navmeshes can either be automatically generated using the "nav_generate" command or critically hitted.

pinhead, (Aka: Entity 832), is one of the various Nextbots that will hunt down players. It can be found in nn_mall. It was released during the Bloodmoon update.

yoshie is the oldest nextbot in the game that did not get removed. For English speakers, the difference may seem difficult to hear. yoshie and Yoshi has a different pronunciation. In yoshie, the "e" sounds like when you pronounce end, so yoshie would be pronounced as Yow-SHIy-EH.

delgado (formerly: selene) is one of the various nextbots that hunts down players in nico's nextbots. It can be found in nn_russia and arcade mode. delgado was added on July 8th, 2022 within the XBOX and Mobile Support.

Nextbots are considered the easiest entities to create in Garry's Mod as the code is already there for any user to use. NPC - Or Non-player character is a basic entity from other Source games. They are the most common entity you will see in Garry's Mod.

To possess a nextbot, you must equip your possessor and throw it at a bot. If the possessor hits the bot, a short animation of your character entering the bot will play, and then you will have full control over the bot.

In the testing servers, there was a bug where angry munci could appear with other nextbots even when there was no angry munci event. angry munci is currently the fastest nextbot in public servers.
