Breath Of The Wild Gerudo Town Guide: Merchants, Loot, Quests, And More (2024)

Found in the far west of Hyrule, gated by both the freezing landscapes of the Tabantha region and the coast of Hyrule, Gerudo Valley is a dangerous wasteland that is one of the harder regions to navigate inBreath of the Wild. With scorching hot days and nights that dip below freezing, this isn't a region that players should take lightly and they should make sure they are prepared for the trek to the city at its heart, Gerudo Town.

This small city is home to the secretive Gerudo, who take their customs very seriously and don't allow men of any race into their lives unless they absolutely have to, or unless a certain Master Sword wielding hero dresses up like a woman.

Merchants

The first place that many players will want to visit, especially if they tried to navigate the Gerudo Valley without the right equipment or elixirs, the Hotel Oasis, Gerudo Town's inn. Like most other inns, Link can pay 20 Rupees to spend the night and heal all of his hearts, or he can pay 80 Rupees to heal all of his hearts in addition to gaining three temporary hearts and a temporary wheel of stamina.

The second store players should visit, which is also the most unique shop in all of Hyrule, is Starlight Memories, the jewelry store. This particular store sells various earings and crowns which have the same effects as some armor items, such as the Diamond Circlet reducing the damage taken from Guardians in the same way as the Ancient Armor, though wearing them allows the player to see Link's face. All of the items are incredibly expensive, but if players really want to be able to see Link's deadpan face while he battles monsters, then this is the best way to do it.

Unlike other towns, Gerudo Town actually has several general stores in the main bazaar area, rather than one store having every item that would normally be found in a single store. Several of these vendors sell food items, including Lorn, who operates a fruit stand that sells Voltfruit, Hydromelon, and Hearty Durian, Estan, who runs the meat shopand sells Seared Meat, Seared Prime Meat, and Seared Gourmet Steak, Ardin, who sells various mushrooms such as the Ironshroom, Razorshroom, and Sunshroom, and Spera, who sells Tabantha Wheat, Hylian Rice, and Rock Salt.

In this same bazaar area, there is also a vendor near the entrance, Saula, who sells the Gerudo disguise armor should players want to obtain more sets so they can dye them at Kochi's Dye shop in Hateno Village. Finally, there is an arrow shop run by Danda, who sellsevery kind of arrow available in the game, with the exception of Ancient Arrows.

The last vendor in Gerudo Town is a secret club that can only be accessed after completing the side quest The Secret Club's Secret and grants access to the Radiant Armor, which allows Link to hide among Stal enemies and grants a bonus to damage done with Bone weapons, as well as theDesert Voe Armor, the male version of the Gerudo disguise that grants Shockresistance and Heat resistance.

Loot and Korok Seeds

Breath Of The Wild Gerudo Town Guide: Merchants, Loot, Quests, And More (2)

While there are a large handful of useful weapons and items found on the road to Gerudo Town, there are only a handful inside the city that can actually be taken. The first that players can find, one that is fairly useful, is an Iron Sledgehammer found near the Sand Seal rental facility at the entrance to Gerudo Town. In the military training area, while there are many Gerdudo wielding spears, Link isn't able to take one for himself. However, there is a Golden Bow leaning up against a far wall that respawns after every Blood Moon, as does the Iron Sledgehammer.

If Link has retaken Vah Naboris, he will also be able to obtain the Thunder Helm that Riju uses against the Divine Beast, though they will need to complete several side quests first in order to gain her favor. While the Thunder Helm can't be upgraded or dyed, if it is worn, it makes Link entirely immune to any Shock effects, including thunderstorms, and is also very useful to wear while exploring Gerudo Valley.

Gerudo Valley has many Korok Seeds scattered throughout the desert, but inside the town itself, there is only one Korok Seed to be obtained by the little critters. In order to find this Korok, Link needs to climb the stone pillar and waterfall feature at the center of town, where there will be a simply interactable Korok at the very top. The top of the waterfall is also a decent place to leave the Travel Medallion, as there are no Gerudo who can spot Link if he isn't wearing the Gerudo disguise.

Quests

Breath Of The Wild Gerudo Town Guide: Merchants, Loot, Quests, And More (3)

Gerudo Town is fairly small, particularly compared to the sprawling city of Zora Domain and the spiraling heights of Rito Village, but there are a large number of side quests to be completed within its walls. The most useful side quest that players should try to complete first is The Eighth Heroine, obtained by talking to the man outside of Gerudo Town, Bozai. He will give the player the Snow Boots and tell them about the mysterious Eighth Heroine statue, found in the frozen Gerudo Highlands, then reward them with the Sand Boots for their trouble. These boots will allow Link to walk and run normally over sandy regions, much like the Snow Boots do for frozen regions.

Once The Eighth Heroine has been completed, players can return to Bozai to receive a second quest, The Forgotten Sword, which sends Link to find the Eighth Heroine's missing sword. The sword in question is the giant sword sticking out of the ground in the southern area of Gerudo Summit, right neat a White Mane Lynel. After taking a picture of it and returning to Bozai, he will give Link the Snow Boots permanently.

A fairly short side quest can be started by talking to Dalia, a Gerudo child who is trying to clear a small area of Gerudo Town to plant seeds. She is growing frustrated that the water is being constantly polluted and she can't seem to clear it and will ask Link to fix the problem. Climb up the wall beside the waterfall and follow the trail of Hydromelon skins to a Gerudo who is munching down on a large pile of them. She refuses to stop unless Link brings her 10 Wildberries, after which she will stop and return to Dalia to help her clean up her mess. Going back to Dalia will complete the quest and reward Link with a Hydromelon.

If Link tries to enter the Secret Club, found in the alley behind the Sand Seal rental area, he will be turned away and begin the Secret Club's Secret side quest that grants him access to the Desert Voe and Radiant Armor sets. Once started, head to the Noble Canteen and into the room behind the three gossiping Gerudo, where Link can eavesdrop on the conversation and obtain the password. Return to the Secret Club and give the guard the correct password to gain entrance and complete the quest.

Between 6 am and 2 pm, players can find a Gerudo called Malena in the Training Ground who is trying to convince a guard to obtain some Molduga Guts for her sick husband. After speaking with her, Link simply needs to give her a Molduga Guts to complete the quest and receive a Gold Rupee. Players don't need to defeat another Molduga to complete the quest if they have already done so and have a Molduga Guts in their inventory, they can simply give her the Guts to finish the quest on the spot.

Before Link can gain access to the Jewelry Shop, he needs to first complete a side quest for the owner, Isha, who asks Link to bring her back 10 Flint and will initial the Tools of the Trade side quest. Once players return to her, she will thank Link by giving him either a Sapphire Circlet, Ruby Circlet, or Topaz Earrings for free, though, since the Sapphire Circlet is the most expensive to buy, this is the one that should probably be taken.

After Vah Naboris has been cleared, players can return to Riju to begin the side quest The Thunder Helm, where Riju will gift Link her crown if he can solve all of the problems in Gerudo Town. In order to receive the Thunder Helm, Link will need to complete the side quests Medicinal Molduga, The Mystery Polluter, The Secret Club's Secret, Tools of the Trade, and The Search for Barta. Of all of these quests, The Search for Barta can only be started once The Thunder Helm has also been started and won't unlock until Link has spoken to Riju. Once all of these quests have been completed, return to her to receive the Thunder Helm, which has the same powers as the Rubber Armor set though it can't be upgraded.

To begin The Search For Barta, talk to either Leena or Liana, who will ask Link to find their boss, Barta. Barta can be found under the leviathan skeleton in the southwest of Gerudo Valley, near the Hawa Koth Shrine, and will need to be given a Hearty Durian, which can be bought from Lorn, to get them to return to Gerudo Town. Once Barta returns to town, fast travel back and talk to Liana or Leena to complete the quest and receive a Silver Rupee.

Shrines

Breath Of The Wild Gerudo Town Guide: Merchants, Loot, Quests, And More (4)

There is only one Shrine in the immediate Gerudo Town area, found just outside of town as the main fast travel point to teleport to.Daqo Chisay Shrine is a fairly complex Shrine to complete and is centered around using Magnesis to move metallic objects to control the flow of electricity inside the Shrine. In order to complete this Shrine, Link will have to move the main metal cube around a bit to gain access to multiple metal barrels so that he can complete the puzzle, but once all barrels have been obtained, the way through to the Monk can be opened to obtain the Spirit Orb.
